David Jana
Founding Partner's Prior Experience
David Jana leads MVC after 26 years of banking and corporate experience at top financial and non-financial companies operating in Latin America. Up to July 2014, David Jana was the Regional Executive of the Southern Cone Countries – Latin America, for Bank of America Merrill Lynch (“BAML”).
Prior to being with BAML, from 2003 to 2010 David Jana was the Chief Financial Officer of Empresa Nacional del Petroleo – ENAP, Chile’s Oil & Gas company, and the Senior Country Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Calyon in Brasil, the investment banking arm of the Credit Agricole Group.
Before ENAP and Calyon, from 1993 to 2002, David Jana held several senior positions at BankBoston N.A., first in Santiago, then in Boston, USA, as Head of Investment Banking for several countries in Latin America, and finally in Sao Paulo where he was Director of Corporate Finance, where he was deeply involved in financing and advisory throughout Brazil’s privatization process.
From 1988 to 1992, David Jana held several positions at The Chase Manhattan Bank at the investment banking, capital markets and the treasury group.
In addition to his executive experience, David Jana has a wide experience serving and advising Boards. He is a Latam senior advisor for IFM Investors, Australia, one of the world’s largest infrastructure asset managers. He is also a board member of Pacific Hydro, an energy renewables company based in Australia with assets also in Chile and Brazil, fully owned by State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), a Chinese corporation. David is member of the board of Fenix Power, Peru´s largest thermoelectric power plant. In addition, he is a board member of Tinguiririca Energía, which is a JV between Pacific Hydro and Statkraft from Norway as well as board member of Korkia Solar, a JV in solar power between Korkia (Finland) and Moonvalley Capital.
Previously, he has been advisor of the Board at ENAP, and Board Member of Empresas de Correos de Chile, Enap Refinerias, Enap Sipetrol, Sonacol, Norgas and Fama Private Equity, a Brazilian private equity firm.
David Jana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
